I've been a Meraki MX user since Nov '14 and I think it's a great product but it lacked a community for it's users to collaborate on the direction we want the product to go in with new features. I want this to get the attention of Meraki and hopefully they'll join us in implementing these features.

1/4/16 Update: Meraki has begun responding to various posts!

Right now this site running on the free version of UserEcho so it doesn't have some features I'd like it to have (such as tagging).

Provide executive style reports on web surfing history

Rob Geoghan 6 years ago updated 5 years ago 1
I've been asked in the past to provide management a report on what sites a person has been visiting and the reports haven't been very helpful.  I have found that Barracuda makes some decent high level reports of all users and that can be sent to managers as a scheduled email automatically.

Get mac addresses of devices plugged into MX LAN ports

Title says it all. It's a minor thing but should be a simple fix.

There should be a way to specify a different external IP for Guest WIFI networks. ideally i rather not have the Guests and Local Users on the same External IP

Labeling ports on MX

I wish I could label the physical ports on the MX from the security appliance page or have it display the client name of the device connected to that port.

I'd like it to send a text or email to allow connecting to the client VPN.

Offer configurable WAN failover timers and settings

couch83 4 years ago 0

Right now the meraki devices failover after a 300s waiting period while testing is being done prior to the device switching from WAN1 to WAN2. IN this soft failure situation the customer is having all kinds of issues connecting externally. There should be configurable settings in the device. IN an RDP environment any latency or loss above 3 - 5 seconds and end users start to freeze and get disconnected from sessions. IF soft wan failures due to latency and loss were configurable so you didnt have to wait the full 300 seconds this would be ideal. Fail after 3 missed pings. This way connection based items such as RDP are limited in the outage time they have to take.

Site-to-Site VPN Translation

CedTech 4 years ago 0

I would like to see Meraki implement Site-to-Site VPN Translation for non-Meraki firewalls.

I have VPN with multiple third party firewalls through vendors that I share info with and I think is crazy that Meraki does not offer this feature since its common on all modern firewalls.

This feature currently only works for Meraki to Meraki firewalls and no everyone will have a Meraki firewall

NAC on switches

jingram 5 years ago 0

You have NAC built-in to the wireless side of the house, but not easily doable with the switch side of the house. Our network is airgapped and wireless is totally physically segregated from the corporate LAN. We would love to utilize Meraki for NAC at the switch level, even with a simple whitelist, but the functionality doesn't exist.

Include blocked viruses in security reports

Currently blocked viruses only show up in the event log instead of the security logs.  The security logs only include IDS/IPS events.

Improved event log filtering (some results not even logged)

Rob Geoghan 6 years ago 0
You can't sort or filter the logs very much.  You can only download the 30 results or so to a csv file.  A temporary solution would be to export the entire log file to a csv but the filtering options via the web should be improved.
I've had two cases where the traffic was being blocked by content filtering and a layer 7 rule that weren't even logged.  I figured out the problem but enabling/disabling the features slowly to narrow down the problematic rule.
